Following a first edition presented last March that focused on pop culture from the 1960s to the 1980s, pop art car 2.0 continues this exploration by examining what contemporary Pop Art might look like. While the historical movement was shaped in direct relation to advertising, popular figures, and the media of its time, our society is influenced by screens, digital data streams, artificial intelligence, and algorithms. From mass culture to digital cultures, from reproducible images to generative images, this edition offers an interpretation of the movement in relation to the tools of our time a reflection that extends naturally through the art cars and show cars also on display. In their own way, these vehicles bear witness to the transformation of the automobile in the era of electrification, new uses, and contemporary imaginations, and to how the icons of yesterday can be reinterpreted through today’s forms, materials, and technologies.
Accompanied by two mediators, discover the stories, inspirations, and dialogues between contemporary artists and automotive design. From Sébastien Preschoux and Popay, to Vasarely, and Julio Le Parc, enjoy a unique opportunity to explore the exhibition from a different perspective and gain insight into the creative process behind these exceptional works.
